High frequency ventilation and regional compliance.

چکیده
Persistent clinical demand and recent industrial developments show that High Frequency Ventilation is well established, although the method was introduced prematurely into clinical use, with incomplete knowledge, primitive instrumental development and inadequate monitoring standards. The confusion [1-6] in the literature regarding the clinical use of high frequency ventilation and its merits indicates that there is a lack of understanding of the method. The user must understand that high frequency ventilation does not follow the usual rules of ventilation. In addition, new high frequency ventilators and monitoring systems are required.

Specific compliance and gas exchange during high-frequency oscillatory ventilation.
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the use of specific compliance (static compliance/functional residual capacity) to adjust mean airway pressure, resulting in optimal gas exchange during high-frequency oscillatory ventilation in a surfactant-deficient newborn piglet. DESIGN Prospective controlled animal study. SETTING Laboratory. SUBJECTS Eight newborn piglets at 5 days of age. BACKGROUND High-fre...
متن کاملMechanics of breathing, gas distribution and functional residual capacity at different frequencies of respiration during spontaneous and artificial ventilation.
Nine healthy volunteers were investigated, both while awake and breathing spontaneously, and while anaesthetized with IPPV, in all cases at rates of both 12 and 24 b.p.m. Gas flow and volume were measured with a pneumotachography. The transpulmonary pressure (the pressure difference between the trachea or the buccal cavity and the oesophagus) was also recorded. The distribution of gas was analy...
متن کاملHigh frequency jet ventilation and gas trapping.
We have compared three types of high frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) with conventional positive pressure ventilation in patients recovering from elective coronary artery bypass surgery. Twelve patients were allocated randomly to receive HFJV at ventilatory frequencies of 60, 100, 150 and 200 bpm from a standard jet ventilator at either the proximal or distal airway (HFJV.p and HFJV.d), or from...

The Effect of Compliance Changes on Delivered Tidal Volumes and Amplitude in an Adult Patient Ventilated with High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation: A Bench Model By John A. England Clinical concerns exist regarding the delivered tidal volume (Vt) during highfrequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV). HFOV is increasingly being used as a lung protective mode of ventilation for patients with Adul...
متن کاملThe impact of regional economic discrimination on tax compliance
This paper seeks to explain the relationship between regional economic discrimination in the form of three indices of need discrimination, capacity discrimination and combined index of tax compliance across provinces for the period of 2002-2016 in three five-year periods. The research model was estimated by GLS method. The results of the model estimation show that there is a significant relatio...
